Where
La Teyssière lies at the very heart of the French department of Vaucluse, one of the smallest departments in France; some might argue that it is also one of the most beautiful and alluring. The house is situated in the Luberon National Park, now a designated Unesco World “Man and Biosphere” Reserve Region, a region blessed with the soft climate typical of the Mediterranean. It is bordered by the Luberon Vally to the North, the Rhone Valley to the West, the Durance Valley to the South, and the Alpine foothills to the East. The area has a contrasted relief (plains, gorges, plateaus, cliffs...)and a diversified river system. All these factors give rise to a wide diversity of microclimates and habitats.

With its varied countryside where lavender fields, vineyards, ochre and red-tinted hills predominate, this area has always attracted visitors but it is still possible to leave the crowds behind and explore its wonders in the tranquility of its hill-top towns & villages, its spectacular valleys, mountains, paths and rivers, its beautiful olive groves and cherry-orchards, its fields of cypress, sunflowers, and rosemary, the winding back roads and lanes and, most of all, via its breathtaking views.

Steeped in a fascinating history from the prehistoric to the modern day via the Roman Empire, the Papal wars, the Resistance Movement of WW11 and much, much more, Vaucluse continues to haunt and fascinate its visitors with the wonders of its unique flora and fauna, its cuisine, the glory of its fresh produce and its superlative wines from the Cotes du Rhone, Cotes du Ventoux, and Cotes du Luberon.
